Bernd Kutzscher, MD Dr. Kutzscher is a member of the Adjunct Clinical Faculty of Ophthalmology at Stanford Medical Center. He was the Director of the Stanford Refractive Network and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UCSF and California Pacific Medical Center. He has also served as medical director of the Stanford Eye Laser Center. Additionally, Dr. Kutzscher has participated in the Stanford Eye Laser program since it opened in 1996. Dr. Kutzscher received his undergraduate and medical school training at Stanford University, his specialty training in Ophthalmology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, and his sub-specialty training in corneal and retinal diseases during two years at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Saudi Arabia. A native Californian and married with three children, Dr. Kutzscher is chairman of the Charity and Community Benefits Committee at Seton Medical Center. He was the Medical Director of the free clinic at Seton and a Seton Ethics Committee member. He also does volunteer surgical work in the highlands of Guatemala. Lee K. Schwartz, MD Dr. Schwartz serves as a clinical professor and consultant to the Corneal Disease Service at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, as an assistant clinical professor and laser vision surgeon at the University of California Berkeley Refractive Surgery Center, and as an assistant clinical professor with the Stanford University Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Schwartz has also served as a medical director of a Stanford Eye Laser Center. A graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Schwartz finished his ophthalmology residency at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and completed fellowships in cornea-external disease at UCSF Proctor Foundation and at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida. Dr Schwartz has taught eye surgery and led eye surgery teams to Central America for the past 12 years. He is currently on the board of directors of the Hospital de la Familia in Guatemala. Four years ago Dr. Schwartz himself, joined the ranks of his many happy LASIK patients. He is past Chief of Ophthalmology at the University of California/Mt. Zion Medical Center. Dr. Schwartz is married with three children. He enjoys mountain biking, hiking, boating and hanging out with the family. Michael Hee, MD, PhD After graduating from Stanford University, Dr. Hee received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Hee trained in ophthalmology and laser vision correction procedures at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). While earning a Ph.D. at MIT, Dr. Hee was significantly involved in the development of optical coherence tomography, or OCT, which is a new technology used to obtain high-resolution images of the retina and optic nerve. Dr. Hee also serves as a clinical instructor in ophthalmology at UCSF. He has a wife and two children, enjoys camping, and plays tennis and the piano. Kevin C. Lee, MD During medical school and residency, Dr. Lee was actively involved in eye research. He spent a year as a Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) Medical Student Research Fellow, and has also received an Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) Research Forum Award and the David Guyton Research Grant award. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Lee also enjoys teaching and received the 2005 W. Richard Green Teaching Award from the medical students at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Lee grew up in New York City and attended Hunter High School, one of the city's top magnet schools. He then graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Behavioral Biology. He received his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine internship at North Shore University Hospital in Long Island. In his free time, Dr. Lee enjoys many outdoor activities including biking, skiing, and tennis. Caroline Fisher, MD Dr. Fisher received a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Spanish Literature, with Honors, from Stanford University, where she received awards for excellence in undergraduate teaching in 1996, 1997, and 1998. She attended Stanford Medical School, where she received a Medical Scholar grant to conduct research in vascular surgery on abdominal aortic aneurysms. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital for her internship, before moving to New York for her ophthalmology residency. After completing her residency in ophthalmology at NYU/Manhattan Eye, Ear, Throat Hospital, she returned to Stanford for her glaucoma fellowship. In her free time, Dr. Fisher enjoys spending time with her husband and family, running trails, writing poetry and prose, ballroom dancing, and cooking. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She also serves as a clinical instructor of ophthalmology at Stanford, where she continues to participate in research studies. She is a Bay Area native and is fluent in Spanish.
Elaine Ho, OD Sharon Lee , OD Dr. Lee received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry and honors from the University of California at Davis and earned her doctorate in optometry from the University of California at Berkeley. She has completed clinical rotations through New Mexico, Oklahoma, and with the Veterans’ Administration (VA), while also serving as class president in the School of Optometry. Dr. Lee completed her fellowship at the University of California at Berkeley, while also instructing and supervising advanced optometry students in clinic. Dr. Lee currently serves as a Clinical Faculty instructor at the Eye Center at the University of California at Berkeley. A San Francisco native, Dr. Lee enjoys serving the diverse needs of the Bay Area, specifically in Chinatown and in public schools. She enjoys different cuisines, creative activities, cooking, and being involved in Asian-American, education, and youth issues. Tom Swift , OD Dr. Swift has been in private practice in San Francisco for the past twenty years with a special emphasis on refractive and corneal disorders and their treatment with contact lenses. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section. He has been a consultant to the contact lens industry and has successfully treated thousands of patients with contact lenses, including many with keratoconus. He is also one of the first optometrists in California to achieve glaucoma treatment certification by the CA State Board of Optometry. He has been a member of teams of doctors that travel to the jungles of Guatemala to provide eye care to the underserved. Tom lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughters, with whom he is active in the athletic, music, and theater circles of SF. Serena Yee , OD Sara Chiu , OD Although Dr. Chiu was born and raised in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, she is now settled in the Bay Area where she enjoys trying different cuisines, reading, hiking, running, skiing, and traveling. |
